Back to Reality

We've all heard it before: "I'm now back to reality..." or "I need to get back to reality..."

Road to Hana - Maui, Hawaii

It usually comes from friends, family members, colleagues... anyone who's just back from vacation. Any time we hear this, we know the person has been somewhere nicer or has been doing something better, which has simply come to an end.

But what does it actually mean, to get back to reality? Were they actually living a dream or a fictional life for a while, and now it's over? Or is their life such a pain, that a small getaway seems unreal to them?

I guess this is one way of looking at reality... I think it's the wrong one...

My whole life is my reality.

Vieux Québec, Canada

I didn't leave it behind when I went travelling or moved to England and then to Australia... All my experiences where very real and now that I'm back home, it is not about depressingly "getting back to reality". I am choosing to be here. I am choosing everything to be my reality. And if at one point I am no longer happy, I'll just change this so-called reality.

I think life is about chasing our dreams and actually living them. It most certainly is not about living a boring "reality" and occasionally escaping to dreamland, only to reluctantly come back.

If you're not happy about your reality then change it permanently... not just temporarily, with the intention of changing it back to something you don't want!

  1. Je suis tellement en accord avec ça! Ma phrase préférée à moi c'est VAUT MIEUX VIVRE SES RÊVES PLUTÔT QUE DE RÊVER SA VIE.
P.S. I'm proud to be on a pic of your blog ; )
